Businesses appreciate mainly the quality of direct banking as regards banking services

Thursday Dec 3, 2009

Prague, 3 December 2009 - According to a Median survey, 56% of medium-sized and large enterprises have drawn on a bank loan this year; one third of them has been financed by Komerční banka. The quality of direct banking, the bank's image and a broad range of high-quality products on offer - these are the key factors that influence firms' satisfaction with banks more than prices.

The Median survey, conducted exclusively for Komerční banka, has shown that 56% of medium-sized and large enterprises have drawn on a bank loan or credit this year. This indicates a slight growth in comparison with last year when 52% of enterprises used credit from banks. However, the percentage is still less than the 67% recorded in 2007. The survey has confirmed Komerční banka's leading position in corporate lending, because in their answers to the question "From which banks are you borrowing?" the largest number of respondents (36%) specified Komerční banka.

Factors other than prices have a stronger influence on overall satisfaction with a bank

In respect of all banks, corporate clients give the highest rating to their stability, a broad offering of products and services, reliability, and relationship managers' performance. On the other hand, the criteria that received the worst rating included the extent to which products and services are favourable in terms of their price. However, at the end of the day factors other than prices have a stronger influence on overall satisfaction with a bank. An Ipsos Tambor survey for Komerční banka shows that these factors are primarily the quality of direct banking, the bank's image, and overall quality of products. "Businesses mainly appreciate the comfort and security of direct banking, the bank's stability and reputation, and the broad range of high-quality products and relationship managers' and specialists' services," explains Lucie Kudrnová, Head of Marketing for Enterprises and Municipalities at Komerční banka.

The Median survey has also shown that one half of enterprises are using Komerční banka's services.

Businesses prefer saving accounts to term deposits

Another interesting finding in the Median survey is the fact that this year, medium-sized enterprises have slightly reduced the use of term deposits, but not the use of saving accounts. Similarly, the number of firms with PC banking has decreased by 8%, but without any decline in their use of internet banking and without returning to "paper" payment orders.

About the surveys

Median has conducted this survey of corporate customers' behaviour exclusively for Komerční banka. Persons responsible in the company for finances and contacts with banks, or directly owners of companies, responded to detailed questions during one-on-one interviews. In 2009 a total of 770 respondents have been polled. For the purposes of this survey, medium-sized enterprises are understood to be enterprises having an annual turnover of CZK 60 million to 300 million, while large enterprises are those with an annual turnover from CZK 300 million to CZK 1.5 billion.

The Ipsos Tambor survey for Komerční banka was conducted by polling 680 respondents over the telephone.
