Gaudeamus Loan

A loan for students.

The Gaudeamus loan is intended for:

  • Czech citizens who are students of
    • universities
    • colleges
    • secondary schools in the Czech Republic or abroad
  • exclusively for personal, non-commercial requirements (tuition fees, a PC or study aids etc.)

Characteristics of the Gaudeamus loan:

  • a specific or non-specific loan from CZK 20,000 to 600,000
  • students at universities or colleges can use the loan for anything
  • otherstudents only for payment of tuition fees
  • one-off or gradual drawing
  • maximum maturity of 10 years
  • repayment always from a KB current account (e.g. a Gaudeamus account, which can be established for this purpose)
  • repayment of the principal can be deferred for selected types of study until after the course has ended, only interest on the loan drawn on is then repaid during the course of study
  • if deferral of instalments is used, the upper limit of the loan is a maximum of CZK 150,000
  • deferral of instalments is only possible for university and college students
  • if the loan applicant does not have his or her own regular income, the bank requires security, for example
    • by means of a third party guarantee
    • by means of a deposit with KB
    • by means of building savings with the Modrá pyramida building society

Advantage of the Gaudeamus loan:

  • possibility of financing tuition fees or other expenditure relating to study
  • university students can use the loan for any non-commercial purposes
  • deferral of payment of the principal during the course of study
  • no charge for arranging the loan
  • low interest rate
  • the loan can be paid off early at any time in part or in full with no penalties
  • discount on residential language courses financed using a Gaudeamus loan from
    •  EF Education First: 5% discount on the price of a residential language course
    • Asiana: CZK 750 discount from the price of a residential language course including the flight ticket/s or a discount of CZK 500 from the price of a residential language course without flight tickets

The Gaudeamus loan allows you to:

  • start studying immediately and at a higher standard
  • only pay interest during your studies
  • distribute repayment of the loan over a period that suits you
  • make your repayments on a day that suits you
  • repay the loan early without any penalties whatsoever
Requirements for the Gaudeamus loan:
  • 2 ID documents (personal ID card and passport for example)
  • documents relating to the type of loan security you chose
