The Hermann Gmeiner School attached to the SOS children's village at Santo has provided temporary shelter to 290 children who lost their parents during the earthquake or got lost in the chaos following the disaster. Another approximately 100 children are to be accepted very soon. Since 30 January, SOS children's villages have been taking care of the 33 children who were the victims of an attempted abduction to the US for adoption. The SOS children's village movement is actively searching for all children's parents or relatives, while seeking to help the children stay in their natural environment, or providing or trying to find alternative care primarily in Haiti.
The KB Group employees' gift will mainly help to provide shelter to parentless children in both SOS children's villages in Haiti, contribute to the repair of the damaged infrastructure of the Santo children's village and to the construction of a new SOS children's village in Haiti, and help to obtain supplies of food, water and medicines for the residents of the villages.
