Komerční banka has won the Gartner Business Intelligence Excellence Award international competition organised by Gartner, a independent research and advisory company, for a region covering Europe, Middle East and Africa. KB received the award for the best Business Intelligence solution at a ceremony in London on 1 February 2010 as the first ever Central European company.

Business Intelligence has been developing at KB for more than ten years; it provides services in the area of information processing for support of effective management and decision-making on all management levels, i.e., from top management to relationship managers at branches. It is currently expanding its services within the whole KB Group. Credibility, transparency, and flexibility are key to these services.

"It is not difficult for me to support BI, for I am convinced that the bank would not now be so successful without BI. This award is a fantastic milestone for BI, but it also means that we are facing a lot of work. It is always more difficult to stay on the top than to climb to it," said Pavel Čejka, Executive Director, Strategy and Finance.

"The quality of submissions this year was very high," said Neil Chandler, research director at Gartner. "Komerční banka stood out because it demonstrated in very clear terms how it was able to use technology for quantifiable business benefits. It showed that BI is not a one time investment but that transformation happened over several years."

Gartner Business Intelligence Excellence Award is dedicated to promoting excellence in Business Intelligence and successful Performance Management projects. The award takes place in North America alternating with Europe and is intended for end-user organisations.
