The gathering of old auto first aid kits donated by the KB Group’s employees has become one of the most successful projects ever in terms of projects intended to involve employees in social responsibility. In the first quarter of this year, employees handed in more than 550 auto first aid kits, the usable content of which will help the clients of the Itibo humanitarian medical centre in Kenya.

The KB Group’s employees collected useless auto first aid kits under a project organised by the humanitarian organisation Adra. Mainly surgical gloves, bandage material, gauze pads, adhesive tapes and plasters and triangular bandages found in the old auto first aid kits will be shipped to the hospital in Kenya.

“Using the content of auto first aid kits for charitable purposes is an excellent idea. The medical material, which otherwise would most probably be discarded, will help to treat ill and injured people in Africa. I therefore greatly appreciate the help and personal commitment of the KB Group’s employees,” said Henri Bonnet, Komerční banka CEO.

The Itibo medical centre and maternity hospital is the only health facility in the region of Nyamira in Kenya. It provides health care to some 200,000 people, who even go there from very remote places. Thanks to support from the Czech Republic, the facility is undergoing major refurbishment. Czech doctors and other medical staff have been working at the facility for some years, and medical students from Charles University’s First Faculty of Medicine take turns there for their practical experience.

Charitable projects are an important part of Komerční banka’s activities. Through the Nadace KB Jistota foundation, the bank and its employees contribute to a number of charitable schemes geared towards the development of the civil society, support for education, support for health and welfare projects, and environmental protection. According to the Donors Forum’s charts, Nadace KB Jistota regularly places among the top ten corporate foundations in the Czech Republic.
