Komerční banka continues to expand contactless payments

Komerční banka has introduced another innovation in contactless payments on the Czech market. Following the launch of contactless payments for mobile handsets with iOS and Android operating systems in August 2012, it has now extended its offering to include the contactless versions of all credit cards: the prestigious Platinum cards, the A Cards, and the popular Lady Cards, which are intended mainly for women.

The contactless Platinum, Lady and A cards work on the MasterCard® PayPassTM technology. This internationally well-tried technology will make it possible for holders of Komerční banka’s contactless payment cards to pay in particular small amounts without the need to insert their card in the terminal, enter their PIN, or sign the bill.

Credit cards with the contactless function are issued with no other fees than those charged for the same credit card without this function.

Paying with a contactless card is really fast. If the merchant supports contactless payments it is enough to hold the card near the terminal upon the checkout operator’s request, and wait for the audio signal indicating that the payment has been made. The merchant will then issue the cardholder with a receipt, and the transaction is completed,” says Petr Polák, Head of Means of Payment at KB.

Marianne Days: Bigger discounts with Lady Cards

Visitors of the Marianne Days, held from 7 to 9 September 2012, who apply for the card right at the promotional tents in Prague in front of the Palladium shopping centre and in Brno in front of the Vaňkovka shopping centre can be among the first contactless Lady Card holders. “With its Lady Card, Komerční banka is a partner of Marianne Days for the second year. Intended mainly for women and bringing them a number of bespoke benefits, the Lady Card cannot be missing on the occasion of the most popular shopping weekend in the Czech Republic,” adds Petr Polák. This year’s Marianne Days open this coming Friday.

Komerční banka contributes 1% of every purchase made using this card to the ladies who hold Lady Cards, specifically to their personal pension accounts held at Penzijní fond Komerční banky. In addition, the clients can use a unique year-long programme of discounts and services customised for women, among other things, insurance of the cardholder’s handbag and purchases, guarantee of the lowest price, and assistance services that can arrange for a plumber or locksmith, or interior painting.

For contactless Lady Card holders, a new benefit is free admission to the new MasterCard Lounge at the Ruzyně airport in Prague.
