Komerční banka’s employees held an auction for the Motol University Hospital in Prague

Towards the end of this year, Komerční banka followed up on a number of its successful CSR activities and organised an auction of the photographs that placed best in its internal The World in Green competition. Proceeds from the auction amounted to CZK 64,411 and will be donated to the Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Clinic of the Motol University Hospital.

Comments on the geographical orientation of external trade for October 2010

According to the Czech Statistical Office’s preliminary data, exports and imports increased 17.2% and 19.4%, respectively, in current prices in October on a year-on-year basis. The surplus on trade was CZK 1.1 billion lower year-on-year and amounted to CZK 15.3 billion.

SG Equipment Finance Czech Republic s.r.o. has increased its market share in the Czech Republic. The Group was also successful on the European level when it received two awards as part of the Leasing Life Awards.

Payments and opening hours at KB branches at the end of 2010

At the end of 2010 all of Komerční banka’s branches, including those that work on Saturdays and Sundays, will keep their opening hours as usual, with the exception of Friday 31 December 2010 when branches will close earlier, at 1 p.m.

Comments on the geographical orientation of external trade in September 2010

According to the Czech Statistical Office's preliminary data, exports and imports increased by 17.7% and 21.8%, respectively, in current prices, in September on a year-on-year basis. Imports grew faster than exports for the seventh month. The value of external trade went up y/y by CZK 74.1 billion to CZK 450.9 billion, and constituted the highest September value of external trade since the Czech Republic's accession to the EU.

Penzijní fond Komerční banky reports a profit of CZK 534 million as at 30 September 2010

As at the end of the third quarter, Penzijní fond Komerční banky posted a profit of CZK 534 million. In comparison with the same period of 2009 its profit therefore went up by more than 38%.

Komerční pojišťovna grew much faster than the entire Czech market in the first three quarters of 2010

In the past 3 quarters of this year, Komerční pojišťovna increased its life assurance premiums written by 133% year-on-year to CZK 7 billion while the entire Czech life assurance market grew 19% year on year. Clients are most interested in investment life insurance with a guaranteed yield.

EU Point Index slightly above the average; only one third of the allocation for 2007 to 2013 remains in the Structural Funds

Following the drop over the holiday months, Komerční banka's EU Point Index rose significantly in October again. In particular the large number of applications submitted by businesses for energy savings and the large number of applications approved under the “EU Money for Primary Schools” scheme helped to boost the activity on the subsidy market. More than CZK 540 billion has been, or soon will be, allocated; only 33% of the allocation for the whole programming period is left for applicants in the Structural Funds now.

Komerční banka Group reports net profit of CZK 9,963 million for first three quarters of 2010

Komerční banka Group reported a net profit of CZK 9,963 million for the first nine months of 2010, which is 18.1% more than in the same period of 2009. KB’s net profit for the third quarter increased by 6.4% quarter-on-quarter to CZK 3,481 million. KB Group’s strong position was evidenced by its loans-to-deposits ratio at 70.0% and its capital adequacy rose to 14.9%. Moreover, the rating agency Fitch Ratings affirmed KB’s long-term rating at “A”.

Komerční banka extends its offering of investment opportunities by Zajištěný fond Forte 4

In co-operation with Komerční pojišťovna, Komerční banka has been offering opportunities to invest in Zajištěný fond Forte 4 [the Forte 4 Guaranteed Fund] as part of the Vital Invest product since 11 October 2010. This fund guarantees clients that 100% of their investment will be returned to them at the fund's maturity and offers a yield of up to 10 % per annum.

Comments on the geographical orientation of external trade for August 2010

According to preliminary data from the Czech Statistical Office, in August exports rose by 23.0% y/y and imports by 30.1% y/y in current prices. The balance of trade with EU countries ended up with a surplus of CZK 38.9 billion, up by CZK 5.9 billion y/y. The negative balance of trade with non-EU countries deepened further by CZK 14.5 billion to CZK 38.4 billion. Deficit deepened by CZK 9.3 billion in trade with China, CZK 1.4 billion in trade with Azerbaijan, CZK 1.3 billion in trade with Korea, and CZK 1.0 billion in trade with Ireland. The balance of trade with Ukraine deteriorated by CZK 1.1 billion and turned from positive to negative. Surplus increased by CZK 1.9 billion in trade with Slovakia, CZK 1.8 billion in trade with Germany, and CZK 1.3 billion in trade with Austria; deficit in trade with Russia shrank by CZK 1.7 billion.

Komerční banka has prepared another attractive competition for MasterCard credit card holders. Between October and the end of 2010, MasterCard credit card holders can compete for 250 luxury prizes. The more frequently they use their MasterCard credit card for payments, the greater their chance of winning a Vespa scooter, Apple iPad tablet, Barack folding electric bicycle, Sony film camera and other prizes.

Komerční banka wins the domain in arbitration

Komerční banka has actively joined the fight against domain name speculation. By a decision of ADR.EU, Arbitration Center for Internet Disputes, the bank has acquired the domain. An individual registered this domain in 2008 with a view to using the domain name for damaging the company’s good reputation and for speculation.

Komerční banka introduces MojeOdměny: new concept of its fee policy

On 1 January 2011, Komerční banka will significantly extend the new concept for pricing its services. The objective of these changes is to provide price-related advantages for such behaviour of clients, which is comfortable for the clients and at the same time the best for the bank in terms of its costs. The changes will concern transactions made using payment cards, and during 2011 the concept will be extended to include additional groups of banking operations.

Komerční banka and CzechTrade sign an agreement on co-operation for 2011

Komerční banka and CzechTrade, the national export promotion agency, signed an agreement on co-operation for 2011 on the occasion of the Brno International Engineering Fair. Henri Bonnet, Komerční banka Chairman and CEO, Jan Juchelka, member of the Board of Directors at KB, and Ivan Jukl, CzechTrade CEO, signed the agreement.

According to the data of the Czech Statistical Office, in July exports rose by 16.0% y/y and imports by 20.5% y/y in current prices. The balance of trade ended up with a surplus of CZK 6.3 billion, which was lower by CZK 5.4 billion y/y. The balance was negatively affected mainly by the deficit in trade in mineral fuels, which was higher by CZK 5.0 billion y/y.

IKS KB has sent a financial gift of CZK 100,000 to the floods account of Člověk v tísni [People in Need], a charitable organisation. The contribution is intended to help combat the after-effects of the recent flash floods in the northern parts of the Czech Republic.
