High coverage limits

We cover medical expenses up to CZK 100 million. The limits apply to each insured event and person separately, even if something happens to you more than once during the same trip. For example, we will cover the cost of treating acute medical conditions abroad or extending your stay due to medical reasons. Injuries with permanent effects are covered up to the amount of CZK 1 million.

Coverage for the whole family

This travel insurance covers you and your family members (spouse, partner, children and grandchildren up to 21 years of age) for an unlimited number of foreign trips (both private and business travel), with one trip lasting up to 120 days. Children, spouse or partner are covered even if they travel alone without you. Grandchildren are only covered if they travel with you.

This travel insurance covers trips abroad (worldwide) as well as in the Czech Republic, provided you are staying in paid accommodation facilities.

In case you need to cancel your trip for compelling reasons, whether prior to your departure or during your trip, we can help you with related cancellation fees. This insurance also covers the cost of missed departure and delayed or cancelled flights. Your luggage is insured against loss, damage or theft up to the amount of CZK 100,000.

IMPORTANT! The first treatment following an accident must take place immediately after its occurrence and in the territory where it occurred; this treatment must be documented – e.g. by a medical report. Liability	CZK 20 mil.	Compensation for damages caused to the health or property of others, including financial loss – WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE LOSS OF PROFIT.	Damage caused by animals. Illness, of which the insured was aware at the time of booking the travel service (except for stabilised chronic illnesses). Trip cancellation due to a natural disaster at the destination or due to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs not recommending travel to the destination. Luggage	CZK 100,000	Damage to or loss of luggage and personal effects that are standard for the purpose of the trip - e.g. due to a natural disaster or loss by the carrier and stolen luggage due to robbery or theft, provided that obstacles, which protect the luggage from theft, are demonstrably overcome. IMPORTANT! In the event of a claim, proof of ownership of the luggage/luggage contents must be provided - receipts of purchase, photographs or similar evidence.	Cash, valuables (jewellery), tickets for travel (incl. air travel). Theft from a tent unless obstacles are overcome. Theft from a car, unless the luggage was placed in the luggage compartment or unless the theft was committed in an unknown manner.
Delayed luggage	CZK 30,000	Reimbursement of the costs of purchasing clothes and toiletries in the event of delayed luggage when travelling abroad.	Luggage delayed on return to the Czech Republic. Expenses for which the insured does not submit a receipt.
Missed departure	CZK 30,000	Reimbursement of the costs of a new airplane ticket or accommodation/meals if you miss your departure due to traffic restrictions.	Missed departure due to traffic congestion, if you travel in your own means of transport.
Flight delay or cancellation	CZK 30,000	Reimbursement of the costs of refreshments, clothing or accommodation, where a flight is delayed for more than 3 hours or cancelled.	Reimbursement of the costs of a new airplane ticket. Flight delay or cancellation in the event it is ordered by the Civil Aviation Authority.

Issue of replacement documents	CZK 20,000	Reimbursement of the costs associated with the issue of new documents in the event they are stolen, lost or damaged. Reimbursement of the costs of issuing documents after returning to the Czech Republic from abroad.

What to do in the event of an insured event

Name and personal ID number (RČ) of the insured who needs assistance
Name and personal ID number (RČ) of the Premium service holder
Type and urgency of assistance required
Information about when and where the insured event happened and where you are now (street, city, etc.)
Telephone number where we can call you back

Important advice:

Do not sign anything you do not understand or agree with. If someone forces you to do so (e.g. the police), write your disagreement on the document in English, or add it in Czech.
In case someone causes you harm or injury, make sure you have witnesses and contact details for the person responsible. Call the police in more serious cases (theft, robbery, etc.).
In case of an insured event, you need to provide proof of ownership of the luggage/luggage contents - receipts of purchase, photographs or similar evidence. We recommend that you take photos of your luggage and its contents before travelling.

Medical treatment

In case of outpatient procedures or hospitalisation, always contact the assistance company immediately. The assistance company guarantees to reimburse the physician and other medical facilities for the costs associated with providing the necessary medical care or transporting the insured back to their home country, including a professional medical escort.
Costs up to the equivalent of CZK 3,000 will be borne by the insured in foreign currency and will be reimbursed upon return to the Czech Republic.
Keep the original medical findings, diagnoses, lists of procedures, and bills, or original copies of such documents (with confirmation of who received the originals and covered the costs, where appropriate).

Liability for damage

Some examples: skiing accidents, damage to hotel equipment, car accidents, etc.

Do not admit fault or pay any compensation for damages without the consent of the assistance service. Contact the assistance company immediately prior to making any admission, acknowledgement of liability, payment or promise.

Make sure you have contact details of any witnesses and the person who may be responsible. Call the police in more serious cases.
Gather as much evidence as possible - photographs, CCTV footage, sketch of the situation, etc. - similar to what you would do in the event of a car accident.
Do not sign anything you do not understand - if they insist on signing, add (in English or Czech, as appropriate) that you do not understand the text or add your version of events and your disagreement.

Luggage

Some examples: damage to luggage during air travel, delayed luggage, stolen bicycles or skis, loss of luggage in transit, etc.

If your luggage is damaged, lost or delayed, notify the carrier immediately and request a report.
Inform the police in case of robbery or theft and request a report.
Carefully keep all original reports, documents and receipts for costs/expenses in connection with meals, accommodation, etc.
In case of an insured event, proof of ownership of luggage/luggage contents must be provided – receipts of purchase, photographs or similar evidence.

Cancellation prior to departure / Trip cancellation abroad

Some examples: illness before departure, hospitalisation of a close person, recovery from a natural disaster in the place of residence, illness at the destination

Report your insured event as soon as possible from the moment you become aware of your inability to travel.
You will need to provide proof of payment for the travel service (airplane tickets, accommodation, etc.), proof of cancellation including the specification of cancellation fees, medical report or other proof of inability to travel or continue the trip.

Permanent effects of an injury / Accidental death

Some examples: permanent effects or death following an accident abroad - car accident, skiing accident, other types of accidents.

The first treatment following an accident must take place immediately after its occurrence and in the territory where it occurred. This treatment must be documented – e.g. by a medical report.

Hints and tips

Collision between skiers on the slopes

The first thing to do is to get medical help. Only then do other actions on the slopes come into play.

It is essential to:

Immediately contact the AXA Assistance service at +420 272 101 033 – they will advise you on the next steps and arrange for an interpreter, where appropriate.
Make sure you have the name, address and contact details of any eyewitnesses to the incident, as well as the person who may be at fault, ideally taking a photo of their ID. Testimony can also be provided by the emergency services – e.g. the mountain rescue service or the police.
In more serious cases, call the local police and insist that a police report be prepared.
Gather evidence, such as photographs or video footage from the place of the collision, as appropriate – similar to what you would do in the event of a car accident.
Do not sign anything without a proper understanding of the text or if there are any discrepancies or doubt. In case a signature is necessary, e.g. for the police, write your disagreement on the document in English or at least in Czech or add your version of events, as appropriate.
Carefully keep all original protocols, confirmations, receipts, medical reports or any other documents.

The important thing is to have presence of mind and follow the necessary procedure. We recommend that clients do not underestimate the event and always contact the assistance service immediately, even in cases where they feel they are not responsible – the assistance service will advise on how to deal with the situation. This will minimise the risk of an unpleasant surprise on return from holiday in the form of a court summons or a demand for immediate payment of the injured party’s claims.

Lost, damaged or stolen luggage

In any case, you need to corroborate your claim. Therefore, it is a good idea to take photos of your luggage and its contents before travelling.

In the event of loss, you must immediately notify the carrier or custodian responsible for the loss (damage) and request a report. In the event of robbery or theft, the police must be called and a report must be prepared.

When settling a claim, it is necessary to prove ownership of the items in question - e.g. receipts of purchase or photographs.
