We are The Bank of the Year again! We have retained primacy in the main category, The Mastercard Bank of the Year 2023, and also in the Corporate Bank of the Year and Bank without Barriers categories.

We are delighted by the expert jury noticing the enormous change that we have been going through in recent years and that has started a new era of banking. Our thanks go to our colleagues for their hard work and to our clients for their trust.

The Main Hall of the Wallenstein (or Waldstein) Palace, home of Czech Parliament’s upper house, the Senate, has hosted the ceremony for The National Awards of the Czech Republic granted by the country’s Ministry of Industry and Trade. The ceremony included The National Quality Award of the Czech Republic, The National Award of the Czech Republic for Family Business Quality, and also The National Award of the Czech Republic for Corporate Responsibility and Sustainable Development, with KB placing second. 

Having signed up for the competition, we completed the input report, explaining our strategy and our steps towards sustainability, and providing other information about various areas, such as our relationship to the employees and clients and our ownership structure. 

The mission of The National Award of the Czech Republic for Corporate Responsibility is to promote modern business and corporate social responsibility through the feedback provided to organisations by independent external assessment. The National Award of the Czech Republic for Corporate Responsibility and Sustainable Development has been accorded in the Czech Republic continuously since 2009. This Czech National Award has been fully harmonised with the international EFQM Committed to Sustainability assessment model, thereby helping organisations to compare themselves with other organisations in the Czech Republic and in other countries.

We have again been ranked one of the Top 10 large Czech corporations that live sustainable business in the independent ESG Ratings from the Association for Social Responsibility. ESG Ratings cover all three aspects represented by this abbreviations, i.e., the management of Environmental, Social, and Governance risks and opportunities in companies.

In 2023 again we retained the awards received in 2022. This year’s edition of the Top Responsible Company ratings from Business for Society has had two awards for us again, one in the Top Responsible Large Company category and the other in the Top Responsible Company in Reporting for sustainability reporting.

Every year, Business for Society, a platform for sustainable business in the Czech Republic, recognises the companies that are serious about sustainability and responsible business. That is, companies that focus on sustainability development on a long-term and strategic basis, have positive benefits for their employees as well as society, reduce their environmental impacts, and bring innovative solutions.

We scored in the 21th year of the Zlatá koruna (Gold Crown) financial products competition. We won first place in the Green Crown category for our Loan to finance a photovoltaic power station. Our other products also scored in the competition: the first place in the category Leasing for entrepreneurs was won by the product Profi Auto, and the bronze medal in the category Mortgages was won by our Mortgage Loan.

From the announcement of the Hospodářské noviny Visa Best Bank 2022 awards, we received an award in the Banking Innovator category. Our initiative to share ATMs with MONETA Money Bank, which brings more accessible services to our clients and, as a result, energy savings, was successful in the public vote. In the meantime, other banks have joined and we now share more than 2,000 ATMs. KB Pojišťovna also won two prizes.

We are regularly evaluated by the rating agencies MSCI ESG and S&P SAM, which evaluate the sustainable approach of companies and the comprehensive impact of business on society and the environment. In the MSCI ESG rating, we jumped from BBB score to AA in 2022.

We are the first Czech bank that, since 2018, has been part of one of the world's main indices of socially responsible companies - the FTSE4Good Index Series. The index is compiled by FTSE Russell (The Financial Times Stock Exchange Group). The FTSE4Good Index Series identifies companies that are active in their approach to environmental protection, maintaining a high level of social and corporate governance. The measurement is carried out on the basis of globally recognized standards.

Within the FTSE4Good index, we moved four tenths forward from last year's rating of 3.3 points to 3.7 points (out of a maximum of 5 possible points).
