Prof. JUDr. Marie Karfíková, CSc. is an expert in financial, tax and insurance law. Lecturer at Charles University, Faculty of Law since 1975, she currently holds the position of the Head of the Department of Financial Law and Financial Science.
From 1999 to 2006, she was a member of the Legislative Council of the Government of the Czech Republic. At the present time, she serves as a member of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Law of Charles University, member of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Law of the University of West Bohemia, a member of the Board of the National Technical Museum in Prague, a member of the Appeals Committee of the Czech National Bank, a member of the Ethics Committee of the Czech Insurance Association, a member of the Presidium of the Public Audit Oversight Board, an arbitrator and President Emeritus of the Court of Arbitration attached to the Economic Chamber and the Agrarian Chamber of the Czech Republic and Vice-President of the Nadání Foundation of Marie and Zdeněk Hlávka.
In recognition of her lifelong work in the field of financial law and financial science and for her many years of scientific and teaching activity, the Rector of Charles University awarded her the silver medal of Charles University in 2020.
