Documentary collection is simple
to administer and process

Why use a documentary collection

  • Security in domestic and foreign business dealings
  • The seller is assured that the buyer will collect the goods and pay for them
  • In connection with lower-risk transactions where the bank does not enter into the contractual obligations
  • Documentary collection ensures that the political, economic and legal environment of the seller’s or buyer’s country is considered stable
  • If you need more security for your transactions, use a letter of credit

Documentary collection

It is a banking instrument guaranteeing the seller that documents covering delivery in domestic or international trade will be released to the buyer only after the collection terms and conditions have been met. The buyer is assured that the goods will be delivered.

Clean collection

It is a method of payment, in which the seller presents a promissory note to the buyer through a bank for payment or acceptance as a commitment for future payment, whereas the goods or documents are only released after the relevant terms and conditions have been met.

How a documentary collection works

  1. A purchase contract is signed
  2. Request to set up documentary collection + documents
  3. The collection order and relevant documents are sent.
  4. Advice to the debtor of receipt of the documents and the collection terms
  5. Execution of the relevant collection operations (e.g. a payment order is presented or a note is accepted)
  6. Documents are released
  7. Payment is remitted
  8. Goods are collected
